St Catherine's Church Towersey
We are a friendly and welcoming community meeting at St Catherine's Church, which is situated at the heart of the quiet, picturesque village of Towersey - just a mile from the market town of Thame. We meet weekly on Sundays throughout the year, with special services at Christmas, Easter and other times during the year.
Our vision is to be a strong and welcoming Christian family, making disciples of Jesus Christ and serving the people of Towersey.
Do look around this site find our more about us - or better still come and visit us, we would love to meet you.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update 24/03/20
The Church continues to be alive and active, but our building must close
We are seeing a huge increase in the number of people falling sick with COVID-19. We must distance ourselves from one another and prevent the spread of infection in order to save lives.
Therefore, as well as public worship being suspended, St Catherine's and all church buildings in the Church of England are now closed. Our worship of God and our care for each other continue but cannot be done in this building.
We are streaming a special Online Worship service at 9.30am every Sunday. The service will appear below, but you may need to refresh your browser. Read more here.
During this time our income has been adversely impacted but our expenses continue unabated. If you are able to support us financially you can do so online. We would be very grateful for any support. Thank you.
Our principal services are on Sunday mornings at 9.30. We follow the standard Anglican forms of worship in a relaxed and informal style. The typical pattern of services is:
- First Sunday is a simple form of morning worship to start the month.
- Morning Worship on the second Sundays of each month is an accessible service of morning prayer.
- Parish Communion is a service of Holy Communion from Common Worship. It is held the fourth Sunday of each month
During the Coronavirus crisis the church building is closed so services will be streamed online and can be viewed on this page. You may need to refresh your screen to start. If you miss the service you can watch at your own convenience. See details.
Please check What's On for upcoming service details as some months may vary.
Sunday Worship will be streamed live below from 9.15am every week.
After the service there is an opportunity to chat with others. You can join the chat by calling the following number: 0203 481 5240 (local call charges apply) then enter the meeting number: 176111187##
Sunday Tea at St Catherine's
On the third Sunday of some months there is no service in the morning but you are warmly invited to Sunday Tea at St Catherine's Church.
There's friendly conversation, fresh tea, good coffee and cakes on offer and we open from 3.30 to 5pm with a short Bible Focus at 4.15pm. See What's On for the date of the next Sunday Tea.
Growing in the the Christian Life
A Journey of Love - A series of Lent Bible studies as we prepare for Easter
Throughout his life Jesus was guided by a clear sense of mission—he needed to complete the task his Father had given him to do: bringing us salvation. In this Lent series we dig deeper into what this meant for Jesus—and what it means for us to follow his example today. Do come and join us, for one evening or for the whole series, as we explore these chapters together.
In normal times we meet at Black Horse Cottage, Manor Road from 8pm to 9.30pm for Bible study and discussion followed by a short time of reflection and prayer. View more details.
At present we are unable to meet in person but we are continuing to meet weekly on Mondays at 8pm. We are using Zoom to connect with one another. The meeting code is 922-100-276. Please contact email@example.com if you would like to join the group.
