St Catherine's Church Towersey
We are a friendly and welcoming community meeting at St Catherine's Church, which is situated at the heart of the quiet, picturesque village of Towersey - just a mile from the market town of Thame. We meet weekly on Sundays throughout the year, with special services at Christmas, Easter and other times during the year.
Our vision is to be a strong and welcoming Christian family, making disciples of Jesus Christ and serving the people of Towersey.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update 29/11/20
Church building open on Sundays for private prayer
We open the church for private prayer on Sundays from 9am to dusk. We have taken steps to make the church building Covid secure. When visiting the church for prayer please adhere to the guidance displayed in the building.
Government regulations limit scope for public worship, so we stream an Online Worship service via Zoom and YouTube at 9.30am on Sunday's except for the 3rd Sunday of the month. See full details below.
Subject to prevailing government regulations, we will hold a service of Holy Communion in the church building at 11pm on Christmas Eve and an online service at 9.30am on Christmas Day. Click here for full details.
During this time our income has been adversely impacted but our expenses continue unabated. If you are able to support us financially you can do so online. We would be very grateful for any support. Thank you.
Sunday Worship Online
Patterns of Worship
In normal times, our principal services are on Sunday mornings at 9.30. We follow the standard Anglican forms of worship in a relaxed and informal style. The typical pattern of services is:
First Sunday is a simple form of morning worship to start the month.
Morning Worship on the second Sundays of each month is an accessible service of morning prayer.
Parish Communion is a service of Holy Communion from Common Worship. It is held the fourth Sunday of each month.
During the Coronavirus pandemic the church building is closed other than for private prayer. So services are streamed online and can be viewed live on this page. If you miss the service you can watch recordings at your own convenience.
Livestream available here
Sunday Worship will be streamed live below (except 3rd Sundays) from 9.15am. The service will start at 9.30am.
After the service
After the service there is an opportunity to chat with others. You can join the chat by calling the following number: 0203 481 5240 (local call charges apply) then enter the meeting number: 176 111 187##
Support for St Catherine's during the pandemic
During this difficult time when our church building is closed, we are still a church meeting virtually for prayer and fellowship, loving our neighbours by offering practical support to the vulnerable. The work of our church is reliant on people's generosity. We give to our church in a variety of ways but with the closure of our building, and with fundraising events cancelled, we cannot receive all the gifts that we usually would. So we really need your help now.
Sunday Tea at St Catherine's
In normal times, on the third Sunday of some months there is no service in the morning but you are warmly invited to Sunday Tea at St Catherine's Church.
There's friendly conversation, fresh tea, good coffee and cakes on offer and we open from 3.30 to 5pm with a short Bible Focus at 4.15pm. See What's On for the date of the next Sunday Tea.
Sadly, Sunday Teas are suspended until further notice because of the limitations of social distancing.
Growing in the Christian Life
The Power of God's Promises - Bible exploration of the book of Joshua
We will follow-up on our exploration of the book of Exodus over the summer, by looking at the way in which God leads his people into the promised land under the leadership of Joshua.
Joshua shows that we can count on God to keep his promises. His book tells of how God's people entered and conquered the land. It is a book for all those whose prayers seem to go unanswered and for anyone needing fresh assurance of the total dependability of God.
Do come and join us, for one evening or for the whole series, as we explore these chapters together. The first session will be on 7th September.
In normal times we meet at Black Horse Cottage, Manor Road from 8pm to 9.30pm for Bible study and discussion followed by a short time of reflection and prayer. At present we are unable to meet in person but we are continuing to meet fortnightly on Mondays at 8pm. We use Zoom to connect with one another. For dates and details download this invitation.
Please contact email@example.com if you would like to join us.
